We started early for a second full day of driving. It started flat, stayed flat and was flat. It felt like we were driving in one place! We have made two time changes. We are now at 2 hours behind NY. We saw giant windmill farms with hundreds of windmills at a time on the horizon. It was so many more compared to Cazenovia's farm. At one point, our bag of unopened bag of potato chips blew up, because of the pressure of being at a higher altitude. The kids wanted to do a science experment and wait and see what happened as we drove higher toward Denver. In th end, Doug put a pinhole into the bag to relieve the pressure. I did not want potato chip pieces all over the SUV if it exploded!! We stopped at a gas station for a break. A dust storm came up and startled all of us! Zack and Beca were facing it and got sand in their eyes. Dust got in the truck through the open door. Doug was sitting in there and got dust in his water bottle, while he was drinking. The rest of us sort of got blown a bit and grabbed for the SUV. Afterward it was funny, but it felt like we were caught in the Wizard of Oz for a few moments! Later, we drove on, and on and on...and finally reached Denver, CO! Civilization! Houses! Cars! The traffic was unbelieveable!it was so congested, compared to Lafayette,NY! We made it to the hotel. I picked out a dinosaur themed hotel. There are fossils and paintings everywhere. It is kind of cool. I will try to get some pictures in the morning. After dinner, the kids went swimming in the outdoor pool and are now getting ready for bed.
