Day 9 more
Okay, so here is more for day 9. We had to leave the suv and trailer parked at the Lobby of the hotel, because it did not fit in the parking lot, parking garage or on the street. Plus it was insane to even think about driving downtown St. Louis! We sent my parents and Beca in a cab to the river. The rst of us walked a mile or so to the St. Louis Arch Riverboat cruise. It was delightful! Cool breeze, and we learned a ton about the Mississippi River. It was interesting to see the grain barges. It is the bread basket city. We saw neat bridges too. Afterwards,we ate a quick lunch at the pier. We walked up a zillion steps to get to the arch. When you get to the arch, the visitor center is underground. We had to go through security first. It was so big underground! I did not expect it! The kids did the ranger program again, and have another badge. Plus a squished penny! We took a ride up to the arch. You enter these little doors that remind me of the escape pods from Spaceballs the movie. The cars are like a Ferris wheel seat, so they pivot as you climb the arch, so you are always upright. At the top, yu enter a short ceiling, small tunnel, with windows to look out. It feels like you are in an airplane. Even the pumped air! You walk sort of off balanced, since even the floor is curved. Geoff loved it, I did not! Dad pointed put the curvature of the earth from up high. Later we walked a few blocks and met up with a city bus that took us the City Museum. It was amazing. It was an artists world of craziness. There was an architecture museum, a crazy playground made of industrial left over parts, and archaelogy. Go there, with or without kids. Mom and dad loved exploring too! They had a ten story slide. It was so slow! Here is a link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_Museum
It is very interesting. We took the bus back to the hotel, and had amazing super thin pizza for dinner. The kids went swimming, I did laundry. Here is the link to the museum.
Here are a ton of photos....
