Day 8 Mammoth Cave, KY to St. Louis, MO

Day 8 was a grumpy day. We woke up hot at 85 degrees at 7:30 am, in our tents. We packed the trailer up again, and it did not all fit back in right. The dirty laundry and food sort of messed us all up with packing. It was tight. We hemmed and hawed. We finally sent grandma and the kid for slushies for a break from the heat. They came back and gave us some too, but they stayed in the shade. We were still all sunburned! Zack and Mandy the most. Geoff just got darker. We said goodbye to yogi bear as we left. We drove into terrible rainstorms. We could hardly see the car in front of us.
By the way, how else do I start sentences in a blog about the family, except by constantly saying "we"? Sorry!
WE read our devotional in the car, and did a few days extra too! I read the mammoth cave history book, I love those books! We saw some cool rock cuts. Best of all, was the area in Bowling Green  Kentucky had cool sinkholes! If you of looked out the window, the trees would be below ground level in a circular sinkhole! It was cool.
There are 60000 sinkholes in KY! We got off the exit right across from the corvette museum, that just lost all the cars to the sinkhole. We all got on each other's nerves trying to get to the hotel, getting stuck in closed roads, construction and one way cobblestone streets!FINALLY......
We arrived at our hotel downtown. It is DOWNTOWN! They had us park next to the lobby where you register. We don't fit anywhere else...but in the end it is so much easier and safer for us to be parked there. No one should bother it right at the lobby. We also made sure to be thankful to the car attendant/security guard. He knows us now! It turns out the St.Louis Arch is quite inaccessible to cars. It is impossible to get anywhere near it with a car. They expect you to park very far away, I mean VERY very far away and walk 5-10 minutes from the designated parking lot! So we will wait and see how we will manage it. We have an exciting day planned! A cruise on the river and a ride up the arch! By the way, it is still HOT here!
Chris had an exhaustion breakdown tonite when we arrived. He is much better now though. Sam has been having more anxiety issues about everything. We are working on just loving him and trying to
keep calm, him and us. Chris got some much needed rest, as soon as we arrived.
I think I am tired too!
